LED Fluorescent Tubes

Part of being that bit ‘greener’ means you’ll do your part to be more energy efficient in your daily life. A great way to start would be to reduce your dependence on fluorescent tube lighting which is still very common locally and switch to a more viable alternative – LED Fluorescent tube lighting.

The key advantages that LED fluorescent tubes have over the traditional fluorescent tubes are that the former does not contain any mercury, requires no ballast or starter, LEDs have a way longer and greater lifespan, at least 50% more energy efficient, and best of all – since there are no toxic components, it can be disposed as regular waste.

About two months back, we made the conscious decision to stop using the fluorescent lights used as ambient lighting under our plaster ceiling L-box and switch to energy saving lamps. I don’t pretend to be an ultra ecogeek but slowly we’re trying to make conscious efforts to do our part to ensure a sustainable future for Ryan and the folks of his generation and the generations after.

Here’s a local site you can lookup for more details about LED lighting, (pardon me, but not very creatively) called LED Lighting Malaysia
