The Drawervac

Talk about smarts! This is a clever little invention that simplifies life in the kitchen. Don’t you often wish you could just sweep the debris and crumbs after working on your countertop, off the countertop – similar to how the folks at your local roadside stalls simply sweep the debris and leftovers off the tables without a care in the world where it lands?

Well, you could do that at home but it’d just be absurd because then you’d have to clean the floors!

Drawervac is a neat little gadget that fits under your countertop and gets activated when the tray is pulled forward. All you then need to do is sweep all the unwanted debris into the tray and watch it being neatly sucked away.

The biggest downside to this marvellous application is that it leverages on a centralized vacuum system which unfortunately, many of us, including myself do not apply in our homes. I hope the makers will soon develop a standalone drawervac that attaches to a disposable or reusable bag.

Actually, the mess really has to be right above the drawervac in order for it to be convenient. what if you spilled on the far end of your countertop and have to sweep the crumbs a few feet over? you’d actually be better off just using one of those black and decker portable vacs.

good thought. but i think the key to installing the drawervac would have to factor in where one would be doing most of the work at. it really would make little sense to please aesthetics but have the vac really far away from the common working area.

the key to making the concept work seems to be installing multiple drawervacs all over the place.
more $$ for the manufacturer then.

Its a very creative idea.

Practically speaking though I’m not sure if clearing the general worktop debris with your hands and putting the mess in the bin takes much more time than this method.

Plus there’s the extra energy usage from using the vacuum to consider.

Its an interesting product.
