The Suited Case
Ever felt a little uneasy whilst travelling because you do not have the creature comforts of home with you at the airports/train stations? Erik De Nijs of Niuwe Heren decided to take a look at this problem and came up with a bizarre yet somewhat inspired design – the Suited Case.

His suitcase combo of two large and two smaller suitcases allows the four luggage articles to be combined to form a rather ecclectic sofa. Now what could this possibly mean for consumers?

1. Decreased need to purchase sofas from home retailers
2. Decreased need for airports and train stations to build proper seating in holding areas?
3. Couples are now more likely to bring along 4 suitcases whenever they travel, even if they do not have to
4. Erik needs to create a fifth suitcase with a built-in TV for the average couch potato (with DVR features)
5. A pretty absurd idea for a sofa but a passable concept for a suitcase – ‘living out of the living room sofa’

I had a look at the suitcases and I understand what you mean about it actually being useful in its unexpected functionality. It is still very original; I came around to compare it to some clothes design that you just cannot think who would ever wear them until you understand that it is the designers having fun throughout bizarre inventions. What I liked the most of these two eccentric designers are their so called meeting chairs: they looked well comfortable and I am sure that any university student would love to attend 4 hour lectures sitting in one of those.
