Modern Bedroom Furniture: Interior Design Zen
If your bedroom “furniture” is more like a collection of bedroom “artifacts,” it may be time to remodel. Bringing your bedroom into modern times may be as simple as changing the bed frame or as complicated as completely renovating the space, depending of course on your time and budget constraints. But what exactly constitutes “modern bedroom furniture“?
Contemporary bedroom furniture is generally defined by a sparse “less is more” aesthetic, as evident in the simple patterns and subtle shades of most modern furniture. Platform beds, for example, sit low to the ground on a simple frame, often with plenty of storage space underneath. Modern nightstands and dressers also embody this aesthetic philosophy. But just because these furnishings are “simple” does not make them any less elegant. In fact, much of their charm stems from their subtlety and their unassuming nature. A room bedecked with modern bedroom furniture appears cleaner, sleeker, and often brighter than bedrooms with lots of bulky traditional furniture.

The simplicity of this furniture also correlates to its versatility: contemporary furniture can fit in with almost any interior design motif, and you rarely have to worry whether or not your new modern platform bed “matches” your contemporary armoire. This is one of the key differences between modern furniture and antique furniture, which tend to be so over-the-top in terms of design that they rarely look good together unless they are purchased as a “set.” The simple nature of modern furniture design means that your furniture collection can grow and adapt with you; you don’t have to buy it all at once, or risk having dissonant design in your home.
Ultimately, modern bedroom furniture is interior design Zen: it is beautiful and simple, and gives you total peace of mind. You can find more information on contemporary bedroom furniture here.

Modern interior design focuses on making the most with minimal design, and it has proved again again that this is the right concept. All a room needs is really an abstract painting.

have always loved the platform bed design… especially if it has plenty of storage space below. Great bed pics!
Now that is something I never knew. Blogs like this really add to our understanding.
Good points. I’m refurnishing my bedroom soon.
As usual, howshouse never fails to impress, I was just thinking about updating my bedroom, and going all Zen….lo and behold, I log in to your site (which I must say, is quite often) and you have just put up a post on Zen looking bedrooms. In my mind, I wanted a neutral colour scheme with simple lines, and your second pix with the bare wall behind will be my inspiration platform. Thanks howshouse!
p.s keep up the good work, love your new site layout, easier and simpler to read!
Where is a good place within the PJ area which sells modern bedroom furniture at affordable prices? Any recommendations?
Thanks for the information about your products. Modern day furniture makers have learned to combine functionality, durability, good design and reasonable price to their pieces of work. And most of all, customers can now own their most wanted furniture with just a click of their hand while inside the comfort of their homes through the internet, any day, any time, 24/7.
Love the Zen vibe. Ready for a change and this could be the place to start
I agree with you. Platform beds are one of the best bedroom furniture items. I would like to add one more advantage of using a platform bed. A platform bed consumes less volume in a bedroom so a perception of more space getes created. This can make a small bedroom look bigger. Great article. Thanks for sharing.
Cool blog. I like the bed in first pic very much. I am planning to renovate my bedroom soon.
