YTL Residence
What happens when a prominent Malaysian family decides that it’s time to upgrade the family home? Here’s what the YTL family did – hire a French design firm, Jouin Manku, spend 45m, and get the following results:
Just to give you some perspective, the other houses in the vicinity aren’t exactly small. These are homes owned by the rich and famous. Now what does that tell you about the magnitude of the YTL residence?
I’m not certain but those could be elevator doors on the left. Decadent living indeed.
The room in which I currently sit at work is about 1/4 the size of this bathroom. I simply love the clean, minimalistic approach taken in designing this bathroom.
This house is simply magnificent. Superlatives aren’t necessary after seeing images of the YTL residence. I suppose it is only fitting that as modern property developers, these folks live in a resplendent abode.
Here’s a little comparison of How’s House vs the YTL Residence just for fun
Tale of the tape:
YTL residence
- 32,000 sqft area
- 9 bedrooms, multiple kitchens, at least 13 bathrooms
- A chapel big enough to host small weddings
- A ballroom that sits 200 people
- No of residents: 3 family generations (grandparents, parents, 7 children)
- Designed by: Patrick Joiun and Sanjit Manku
How’sHouse
- 2,800 sqft area
- 5 bedrooms, 2 kitchens, 4 bathrooms
- Little prayer corner on the top floor
- No ballroom but there’s a room with a ball
- No of residents: 3 (Adrian, YinLeng and baby Ryan)
- Designed by: Adrian How and his dad – via magazines and the internet
The stats are very obviously stacked against How’s House but I love it to bits and to me, it’s the best place to come home to every day after work – to a loving wife and beautiful baby. Even though we don’t own a 45m dollar home, we thank God everyday for His marvellous blessings upon us – a family, a roof over our heads, and lots of love… and that is the core of How’s House.

Great design on this house. Although the aerial view looks like it should be in Disney World. Great Post.
Thanks for your comment on my Blog.

well, home does not necessarily need be luxurious… it’s abt where our heart is… staying with the people we love, letting our friends and relatives come and enjoy the environment together…
BUT, of course with nice residence, it’s nice la… kekeke… thanks for sharing.. didn’t know we have this in M’sia too… cool!
wow!! I couldn’t stop my jaw from dropping while reading this post. Amazing!! Thanks for sharing. The trivia about your house is interesting too. How come no picture comparisons?
Can share your little prayer corner? I am having big headache on placing an altar in the living hall for my new house. I hope to have a modern looking one but can’t find any reference from the net.
@tanly
I certainly can. Will email you a photo of what I’ve done
Oh Adrian! Please email me the alter table sample too! Its so hard to get a pics of something a bit modern in the internet! I saw once an ID consultant showed me his profiles . he did really cool alter tables .. but he charges RM10k for ID .. which I dont have .. so Adrian, please do share it with me too. Thanks ya!
i’m using a telephone table stand as an altar in the living room.. though.. i’m also trying to figure out how to make that corner look a whole lot better..
In fact, I’m using a simple console table from my parents’ place! Will take a pic soon
Oh my goodness, I heard about YTL’s house but I have never seen it before. Its absolutely amazing!!
